Code Ann. 77-27-21.5,
Sex Offender Registration, requires the State of Utah to
develop, operate, and maintain a registry of persons who
have either been convicted of or entered a plea in
abeyance to certain sex offenses. Those offenses are
listed here and in subsection (1)(d)
of the statute
76-10-1306.
Aggravated exploitation of prostitution.
(1) A person is guilty of aggravated exploitation if:
(a) In committing an act of exploiting prostitution, as
defined in section 76-10-1305, he uses any force, threat,
or fear against any person; or
(b) The person procured, transported, or pursuaded or with
whom he shares the proceeds of prostitution is under
eighteen years of age or is the wife of the actor.
(2) Aggravated exploitation of prostitution is a felony of
the second degree.
Enacted by Chapter 196, 1973 General Session
Registration
is also required of individuals who are committed to the
Utah State Hospital by reason of their mental condition
and who also have committed or been alleged to have
committed any of the listed offenses.
Section 77-27-21.5
mandates the Department to disseminate to the public all
information in the registry. The Department chooses to
meet this demand via this website.
The
State of Utah makes no representation, either implied or
expressed, that all information is accurate. Though much
of the information is of record, some is gathered from the
offenders themselves, who are required to list their
addresses whenever they move as well as annually;
The
information contained in this search does not imply listed
individuals will commit a specific type of crime in the
future, nor does it imply that if a future crime is
committed by a listed individual what the nature of that
crime may be and the State makes no representation as to
any offender’s likelihood of re-offending;
Information
compiled in this search may not be used to harass or
threaten sex offenders or their families. Harassment,
stalking, or threats are prohibited and doing so may
violate Utah criminal law.
NOTE: If you submitted your request to us and
did not provide a zip code for us to search, then we have
searched under the zip code of the address that you
provided when you signed up to use our services. If you
need a different zip code checked, please contact our
offices at 1-800-315-7678.
If you have the name of a particular individual whom you
would like us to
check, again, please call our offices and we can usually
tell you if they are registered as a sex offender in your
state. We can be reached Monday through Friday from 8:00
a.m.-8:00 p.m. MST. 1-800-315-7678
This information is updated regularly, to try to assure
that it is complete and accurate. However, this information can change quickly.
You are cautioned that the information provided in
this site search is information of record and may not
reflect the current residence, status, or other
information regarding a registrant (offender).
Sex offenders have always lived in our communities;
but it wasn't until the passage of the sex and child
offender registration act that the law enforcement even
knew where they were living. In many cases, this
information is now available to enhance public safety and
protection.
WARNING: Abuse of this
information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered
sex offenders will not be tolerated. Further, such abuse
could potentially end the ability to provide this
information. We believe the only person who wins if this
ends is the offender, since sex offenders derive their
power through secrecy.
